Wildcare has recently purchased a second possum release trailer to help with the growing number of possums needing release after being rehabilitated each year. The possum trailer has been purpose built, with natural branches, possum boxes and cover for protection from the elements. It is enclosed to keep the possum safe from predators while they acclimate to the natural environment.
Little Evie is the trailers first user, a juvenile possum who came to Wildcare after being attacked by birds after being separated from her mother. She had superficial wounds from the attack, and was rescued and rehabilitated with one of our amazing carers. Now that she has been in care a few months, she has recovered well and is ready to be released back into the wild, at a beautiful spot in Forbes Creek. Wildcare members and carers will look after her while she transitions into the wild.
It's thanks to the generous donations of caring, considerate individuals who are able to donate, that we are able to provide the necessary equipment to rescue, raise, rehabilitate and release native animals, just like Evie. If you're able to donate, head to our website: https://wildcare.com.au/
