About the event

Basic Macropod Rescue and Care


Wildcare is conducting a course in Basic Macropod Rescue & Care on 24 May 2024. The course is pitched at those new to rescuing and rehabilitating Macropods and those interested in doing so. This course also provides a refresher module to update and re-qualify rehabilitators nearing the end of their three-year authority-to-operate for Macropod rehabilitation.


The course covers the basics involved when rehabilitating, raising and releasing Macropods, including:

  • Being a Carer & the Carer system

  • Basic Anatomy & Species Identification

  • Determining Stage of Development

  • Rescue, Assessment & Transport

  • Caring for your Macropod

  • Health & Basic First Aid

The course includes comprehensive notes supplied electronically.


Schedule

9:00am - Registration

9:30am - Training commences

5:00pm - Course concludes


Course fees (+50c BF)

Wildcare member – New rehabilitator $24.50

Wildcare member – Refresher qualification $14.50

Other wildlife group member – New rehabilitator $29.50

  • Morning and afternoon tea are provided.

  • Please bring your own lunch as there are no nearby shops.
